Warner Bros. announced late last year that an animated Lego movie is in the works, titled Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Now, the studio has revealed that blocky versions of Batman and Superman will appear in the film.
The two DC heroes have never snapped together on the big screen before, but they have joined forces in countless comics, animated home movies, and the recent game Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. Will Arnett will voice Batman in the new movie, and Channing Tatum is rumoured to be up for the vocal role of Superman. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, will helm.
Lego: The Piece of Resistance will assemble in theatres in February 2014. Less blocky versions of Batman and Superman will appear in The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel before that, and the two characters will also unite in the live-action Justice League movie, which is in the early stages of development.
