It looks like the long-in-development Venom movie will take place within the same universe as the latest Spidey film, The Amazing Spider-Man, and possibly feature some of the same characters and actors. That’s according to the producing team Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach, who tell Hollywood.com that they’re developing the new Venom to live in the same world as the new Spider-Man.
Arad and Tolmach also revealed that the Venom film will focus on Eddie Brock, the first version of the character. Brock was played by Topher Grace in Spider-Man 3, but the new film will likely feature another actor in the role. There’s no word yet on when the project will begin shooting. It’ll be helmed by Chronicle director Josh Trank.
If you just can’t wait to get your Spidey senses tingling again, The Amazing Spider-Man will swing into theatres on July 3.
